Woman’s Work

A Call to Woman

Who through it all Care in

Sacred Sacrificial devotion to those who speak in a

betterment of tomorrow

Woman

who they say we are

what we thought to be

nurturing by design; worried by definition

Brushing bread crumbs off kiddie cheeks

tying double knots on…

kicks

sneaks

slides, or whatever trendy word I forgot to look up… before

they roll their eyes on the way out the door.

Woman

Work

stretched out amongst a dream

laying down a red carpet to bypass all we suffered

Woman

young

old

married, single,

White, Asian, Native, Black all One

which we can’t deny and must allow footsteps to be laid

for generations to come

with a thousand voices of insight behind her

swooped in with Grace of our common direction.

Waiting patiently

for the referral to see the lady doctor covered by

a promise of a husband with a good job to insure

a right fit into the stirrups

remembering to give out vaccines and birth control to teenagers

in vending machines

rather than the hard education in uncomfortable

conversations about sex, usually left to the

Woman

Work

determined to find peace

Snapping off all which makes us tender in the arms of the family care worker

desperate looking for pennies

dropped on the ground for luck,

Magic

of the finding.

Work Woman

Work

Work it baby, getting it done

Time for fun, not

…hard as nails doing a man’s job

in a suit that is binding.

Work

She

Her

skilled labor for fast food dollars

Educated burnout sitting in the classroom

supporting the teacher directing our sons

on minimum income

Swirling to keep their interest, and the guns

out of their hands and police off their backs.

Equal value commitment to the cause

We roar towards a new way of being

No shame in feeling; AI won’t hug you at the end of the day

woman’s work

Cooking the bacon now show us the pay.

A fire in the belly to see our world

transformed

Great Divine Mother

whose womb we all been born

Sweet Mama Gai setting flames upon our land

fanning creative passion to help us all understand

As we reach back to the trailblazers

she who lead us to independence 50 years only

we celebrate a time

when woman

Work

allowed to bank, buy and burn our bra’s

A drop in the sea of His story

on the horizon I see Her glory.

The ones who clawed and paved the way for us to be here today

Thank You

Gratitude

deep deep honor

You hold these vital facts

that Woman you can speak your mind because

We ain’t going back.
